The key to changing habits lies in changing your routines and findng something sustainable to replace the old habits, when triggered yet deliver a comparable reward or outcome. For example when I want to feel less stressed, I no longer drink or smoke. Instead I go for a hike, binge watch netflix or chew nicotene gum. Or I eat and take a nap. When I do ant of these things I always feel better.
